Photographer based in Shaunavon, SK & Author of Forgotten Saskatchewan.
Currently doing beginner & night photography classes all over western Canada.
I LOVE teaching photography to beginners and I teach in a way for the ordinary person. And I teach in a way that does not require expensive equipment nor photoshop. In fact, I rarely buy expensive equipment and hardly ever touch Photoshop myself and this has not affected book sales nor gallery showings.
What I do teach is being creative with your camera and then finding those amazing hidden gems in Canada to shoot them with those creative skills.
I also so drone photography and because of UA-cam, I began doing some film making and I love it!
Canada is a BIG country. It is going to take me years to see it all. I can’t wait!

Route 66 - 66 Ghost Towns & Abandoned Places
Переглядів 3,6 млн5 місяців тому
66 Abandoned Places On Route 66! I traveled across Route 66 (twice) in Oct and Nov of 2023 filming ghost towns and abandoned places. This video contains my favorite 66 spots. I skipped entering major cities like LA, St Louis and Chicago due to traffic and safety concerns as most good abandoned places are in areas you don't want to send tourists in those cities. Arizona was my favorite state for...

What a great video 👏
My Uncles house was an abandoned gas station on old rt 66, 3 miles West of Hall Town Missouri just East the little bridge. The Bridge is at 1:16:24, my Uncles house was the first house on the right, the old swimming hole, where I learned to swim was to the right of the bridge. The gas station at 1:16:42 , walked there barefoot many times for an Orange NEHI. Spent many summers there in the 1950s
thanks for the great video!
The houses that are abandoned & not posted as "NO TRESPASSING" signs, I would guess are likely now provincial or county property......would you agree or do you know how that works in Sask. ?
⭐️⭐️Missed Tiny‼️‼️
My hometown of Herschel! There are still a few people still living there.
I like that town!
My parents grew up in port Reeve, some time I'd like to visit and see what it looks like.
Not much left
@@attrell if I recall I think my dad used to run a ferry across a river around there ?
I live in NW Alberta. Been through Saskatchewan on my bike but never got to stop and smell the roses. I’m going to be saving this video. Well done sir.
Thank you!
I lived in wolf point in 71-72 the winter of 71 was wicked -50 with the wind chill. Then we moved to Helena then as a adult I moved to Red lodge best place ever in. My book.
IT DOES NOT EXIST. YOUR VIDEO SCENES ARE ALL A.I.
It does exsist :)
13:39 цвет этого дома прелесть☺.Как называется цвет ?
I remember checking my camera just outside my tent. Not even after a minute of zipping up the screen mesh inside, there was this pokey looking blob right beside the tripod. I grab my flashlight and shined it on this mystery blob and it was a porcupine lol scared the crap out of me. It left without issue.
Yikes!
I’ve lived here almost all my life, but this video and all the beauty you showcase here really hit me. Like too many my age growing up in the city, I’ve taken all but the living skies for granted, now I’m so intrigued to see my province and feels like I now truly appreciate it
Lots to see, glad you enjoyed it!
When i can im gonna have to make this a road trip, i used to live in flagstaff till 2004. I never knew of half these places.
Funny!! In your book i was just spinning through it and you have shot some of the farm houses I also shot. Very interesting how we shot the one farm house different. Your cover pic and page 83, along with your frobisher pictures.
That is terrific!!
I've been bird hunting the HiLine for 30 years. I know all these spots and more. From Chinook to Turner there are more dead people buried north of hi way 2 than live ones.
Who owns all the land around these towns
Locals mostly, but in some cases the RM.
Route 66 doesnt go thru nevada?
No it does not
Amazing photography! Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thanks for watching!
You can't own a whole continent and these results are normal.
Is this a hit or miss, street photography, is the af good enough for moving subjects
The old church in Dollard has been purchased and I believe they are planning on fixing it up.
Really? THat is amazing!
Really enjoy these videos Chris, I live in one of the Ghost towns you feature, and find it really sad that there are so many just fading away into history, all the stories to be forgotten.
Thank you! I am happy that in some of these places people are returning.
Wow, i went to school in Crane Valley in the 80s, attended VBS in that community hall, got a black eye on that ball diamond. I still have family farming in the area. Did you make it out to Ormiston?
Not on this trip, I should go see it again this summer.
Cant afford rent here in Alberta anymore going to have to move to Bagdad :D
Try SW Saskatchewan instead.
Great video, it makes a guy want to go and discover the towns himself.
YOu'll enjoy the trip!
Thank you Chris that was beautiful wow awesome 👏
Thank you!
I did enjoy this video!
Thank you!
Where are the cemeteries?😊
Mostly outside of town.
Had the pleasure of being the minister at Drumbo Sask. in 1986. Would like to go back just to see the town and those still in the area.
Absolutely beautiful my friend! I cannot get enough footage like this!!! Thank you Sir. Outstanding work.
Many thanks!
Why not just get the low income and homeless people, restore, renovate, and expand the abandoned towns that are all along old US Highway 66, make low rent, low cost, and low tax, communities, help make those places have permanent jobs that will always be useful for humankind, and make them self-sufficient communities? There are a lot more poor and homeless people that will work that will not work, and if they are far away from the temptations of the world, then they can focus on jobs and positive living. Also, anyone that says otherwise is a part of the problem instead of part of the solution for the rising homelessness and unemployment rates of not just the USA, but also worldwide.
Thanks for making a very nice video
Thanks!
Cute mayors in these towns😽😻❤
Another superb video. Always look forward to a new video of yours. This area(and the southwest corner of Saskatchewan) is where i want to retire. 👍
That is a great area to retire, price is right!
love thps video,Chis
Thank you!!
Great video even for a non-Nikon user like me.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. 👍429
Also. I believe theses places will never come back. Agriculture very highly mechanized don't need that many people. I don't understand why anyone wants to live here. Snow. Lived in Michigan when global warming wasn't as bad as it is now. Winter could last 5 months. I don't know how Canadian feels about this type if winter. But I believe mist Americans live in okaces that are snow free or where can deal with snow the mickey miusecway like New York. And there are 2 places in Canada almost like thst Vancouver BC and Victoria BC. Anither problem is reberse racism. The USA isn't quite there yet nationwide butvwill soon be majority nonwhite. Non whites would be sfraid of SW too many cinservative white people. This place car dependent. Gen z is screwed will have to live the car free NYC way in the future. You can't expect people who ghink that wayvto be interested in an autokind car dependent society.😮
What do these people do for a living. I thought SW was grain country . Where is the grain. Did I miss something looking at the video and not recognized what I see. Or was the agriculture shut down . Also dirt streets. How primitive.
😂one thing to mention is that the wind never stops blowing on the prairies! And it gets very cold, minus 42°farenheight or colder.
I am watching these videos and I find them very enjoyable. As someone who was born in a village in rural Alberta, this type of thing is very relatable. Many parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Montana and North Dakota have places like these. It was a different life experience, way back then. Cheers!
Glad you like them! Yes it is very windy :)
Up in Stuart,British Columbia, their old firehall has a similar design. I was there in 2015,and they were trying to restore it.
The "complicated machine" is a combine harvester
Thank you!
The Amboy ca hotel looks like it could be renovated
I love historical route 66 abandoned towns❤
Me too!
great video thank you
With all the people breaking into old homesteads and towns stealing items you shouldn’t mention the names and give locations. A small town by where I live someone stole the old gas pumps and doing something like that is not people under 20. So take videos they are great but leave out names and locations.
love these old towns and buildings.❤️🇺🇸
Great video, awesome landscape. Very different from Cooktown far north Queensland!
Thank you!
